Why may the same colors look different on different materials?

Different printing materials absorb ink differently during the printing process. Because of this, the same artwork and color settings may produce slightly different visual results across different materials.

Factors that may affect color appearance include:

  • material coating
  • surface texture
  • paper thickness
  • absorbency level
  • material base color
  • finishing surface

Materials with higher ink absorption may appear:

  • darker
  • softer
  • less vibrant

While smoother or coated materials may produce:

  • sharper details
  • stronger contrast
  • more vibrant colors

This is a normal characteristic of commercial printing production and is internationally recognized across the printing industry.

Because printing involves physical materials, exact identical color appearance across different material types cannot always be fully achieved.

Customers are encouraged to review material specifications carefully before production. Sample review is also recommended for projects requiring highly specific color expectations across multiple material types.

If you need assistance selecting suitable materials, our Customer Support team is always happy to assist. We highly value customer feedback and continuously work to improve our production quality and consistency.
